The 27-year-old man's death is the subject of a critical incident investigation after he was tasered by police on Thursday night.
NSW Police claim he became aggressive to two officers who tried to speak with him after they were called to Herbert Street about 8pm.
Officers said they were forced to deploy capsicum spray as well as taser when a struggle broke out. The man then lost consciousness.

Police immediately rendered first aid before paramedics rushed the man to Gunnedah hospital where he died a short time later.
A female officer who was taken to hospital has since been released, NSW police confirmed on Friday.
She suffered a bite wound to the forearm and a knee injury and was hospitalised after the incident but is now recovering.
She's one of two officers, among others, who will be interviewed as part of the investigation into the incident.
NSW Police would not comment on the nature of the initial call out to the Herbert Street home but said they deployed two police after concerns for the 27-year-old man's behaviour.
A critical incident investigation has now been launched into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The State Crime Command's Homicide Squad has been called in to lead the investigation, which will also be subject to an independent review by authorities.
A crime scene remained in place at the home on Friday, and was examined by forensic police as part of the investigation.
