AN ELDERLY man was "knocked out" and hospitalised after waking to find a group of men - one armed with a screwdriver - inside his home late on Anzac Day.

Police are appealing for information after officers were called to a couple's home on Old Bundarra Road in Inverell just before midnight on April 25.
Three men broke into the house, waking the 76-year-old man and 71-year-old woman.
Police were told one of the intruders demanded cash and threatened the elderly man with a screwdriver.
During the struggle, the male resident was pushed over and "knocked out", police said.

The group then fled the scene on foot with money and other items taken from the home.
An ambulance took the older man to Inverell hospital and he was treated for minor injuries.
New England police are investigating and have urged members of the public to come forward if they have any information or footage from the area around the time.
