Bradley Ross Learmonth was convicted of gun, drug and ammunition charges, but the more serious allegation stemming from an alleged altercation on October 19, last year, was withdrawn.
Police had initially claimed Learmonth had been involved in a verbal altercation with three men - aged 29, 30 and 41 - at a Dungowan property about 9pm.
They had claimed he had been in a vehicle and reached for the firearm, before the men intervened and grabbed the gun in a struggle.

He was restrained and arrested, and was granted bail in court the day after his arrest.
At the time, Learmonth admitted to having the unregistered bolt-action .22 firearm but denied he pulled it on the men.
Learmonth was due to face a hearing in Tamworth Local Court on a charge of using an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, but the allegation was withdrawn by the prosecution and dismissed.
He had already pleaded guilty to possessing an unauthorised and unregistered firearm, as well as ammunition without a licence.
In sentencing, magistrate Julie Soars placed Learmonth on a Community Correction Order (CCO) for 12 months and fined him $800.
He pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis and was convicted without further penalty.
