Treating prostate cancer is such a slow process and it's a disease that affects so many men that regional patients occupy over half the beds at the Tamworth hospital's Inala House.
That's according to the institution's Cancer Council coordinator Kate Bowen, who recently welcomed a "generous donation" from the Tamworth prostate cancer support group for $7000.

Support group vice president Grant Pierce suffers from the horror disease.
He strongly urged Tamworth residents to get checked.
"Maybe next time they see their GP they say 'hey why not a prostate check?'" he said.
"It's only a blood check."
He said the disease still does not have the profile of the less-fatal breast cancer, but things are improving.
"If we can make a contribution to the cancer picture here in Tamworth, that's all the better," he said.
