The chance win has given the duo a happy end to a "crappy year", they said.
"This ticket was actually a mistake. My husband thought he was buying into Powerball, but he actually got a Monday and Wednesday Lotto ticket. When he realised, he just thought he'd keep the ticket. I'm glad he did!" one of the winners said.
The couple bought the ticket at Shoppingworld News agency on Bridge Street in Tamworth.
It was one of four division one winning entries drawn on Wednesday.
The ticket netted them a cool million-dollars to end what they called a "crappy year".
"I've just about had a heart attack!" the female winner said.
"I think I'll just spend the next few days being shocked. It's just came out of nowhere.

"This win will help us out immensely. It's a lovely way to finish a crappy year off."
The winners want to remain anonymous.
They're not the first winners from our region in 2020.
In November an Inverell woman became the first division one winner to take home a million dollars at her small town newsagent.
The lottery paid out 210 division one wins in the 2020 to 2021 financial year, 57 of them in NSW.
