Every year, the CWA of NSW chooses a different cause for its annual awareness week campaign and this year branches across the state will be raising awareness for the important social issue.
Tamworth Evening Branch president Sue-Ellen Hogan said this year's topic was timely amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are seeing statistics from various sources which show domestic violence is on the rise across the state and particularly in rural areas," Ms Hogan told the Leader.
"That's why domestic violence was chosen as this year's topic and the CWA formed a partnership with White Ribbon to help raise awareness for the issue.
"For our branch, it's all about education and raising awareness for what is, unfortunately, a prevalent issue."
CWA NSW president Stephanie Stanhope said the organisation was pushing for urgent action to be taken to turn around the confronting statistics.
"The rates of violence we are seeing are not acceptable in our communities and we are calling for more initiatives, strategies and resources to go towards addressing the issue, particularly in rural and regional areas," Ms Stanhope said.
"We also want to encourage women who are living with violence to reach out for assistance, and the message from communities must be that victims are not alone and will not be judged, but rather listened to and supported."
Ms Hogan said the club would be hosting a number of online events during the September 6-13 campaign to help raise awareness.
"Normally, we would host some in-person events during awareness week but the COVID-19 pandemic has not made that possible this year," she said.
"In years gone by we have hosted our awareness week events at Weswal Gallery, but sadly we can't because of social distancing restrictions.
"However, we will be hosting some online events and we encourage anyone interested to reach out to us or to attend our meeting on September 9.
"For those looking to get involved, our Facebook page will have all the details and our members will be spreading the message across town."
