The Youth Council are the ears and eyes of Tamworth Regional Council when it comes to engagement with young people and avoiding OK boomer-isms.
The first meeting was last night and mayor Col Murray said the leaders of tomorrow show a lot of promise.
"It was really good to hear what their aspirations were and why they chose to put themselves forward," he said.
"Issues like mental health are really real for them, as well as youth events and opportunities.
"For me one of the biggest benefits is actually the personal development that each of the members get out of the process in leadership and experience to bring forward the views of their peers."
The Youth Council meets monthly to discuss challenges, plan events and report back to TRC to make change.
