THE NIGHT sky was lit up by glowing blue lights on Thursday, as Tamworth's most iconic landmarks were given a new hue to thank front line workers amid the coronavirus crisis.

As darkness swept over the city and the clock struck 6pm, some of Tamworth's main features, along with some homes and businesses, were lit with blue lights.
The city's Big Golden Guitar statue was stripped of its usual metallic shade for the event, and shone a bright blue instead.

Tamworth's town hall, community centre and the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre (AELEC) were also coloured blue for the evening.
Tamworth Regional Council encouraged people to get involved by stringing up coloured lights at their home or business, or simply support the cause by going for a wander around town to see the spectacle.
Mayor Col Murray said the event was about showing appreciation to those workers who couldn't stay home when the rest of the country had to.
"This is something we're doing to show our respect and our thanks to those hard-working health workers who have kept our community safe during this COVID-19 pandemic," he said.
The 'Light It Blue' campaign reached Tamworth after spreading across the globe since its initial launch in the United Kingdom, back in March.
