"Unfortunately, it's been a pretty messy start to the morning for this driver," Deputy Captain Johns told the Leader.
"We were called to the scene around 7:30am and found the driver had managed to escape unharmed.
"Basically, his truck and dog unit, which was carrying chicken manure had flipped and rolled.
"It was a lucky escape and our crews our now busy helping with the clean up effort."
Deputy Captain Johns said Gunnedah Shire Council crews were working with police on the clean up effort and traffic control.
"The truck is blocking all of the westbound lane of the highway and some of the eastbound lane too," he said.
"Police and council are working on allowing traffic to use one lane of the highway.
"As well as that, the council crews are working on cleaning up the mess made by the load of manure."
Drivers are being urged to use caution while driving past the scene and allow for extra travel time.
