Tamworth Regional Council has been carrying out "stabilisation works" on Daruka Road since last week.
These works - past the Janison Street intersection towards Daruka - are expected to carry on until Monday, January 20.
Traffic control is in place and delays of up to 10 minutes are expected.

Water main works are also taking place on Bass Street between Hume and Street and Gunnedah Road from Tuesday to Wednesday this week.
One lane of Bass Street will be closed and motorists are urged to drive with care and be aware of "loose material" during the project.
There was also work on Brewery Lane which saw the North Tamworth road closed on Sunday as the council carried out an essential water infrastructure build.
