Despite being in a prime position early in the grand final rematch, Wests were unable to capitalise on their chances and eventually went down by four wickets to last year's premiers.
Despite last week's disappointment, Wests captain Shaun Stevenson said he felt his "side is not too far off" its best.
"I really didn't think we played too badly last week, to be honest," Stevenson said.
"We got off to a flyer with the bat, but lost wickets in clumps, which really hurt us.
"In the field, we didn't make the most of our chances. I think we may have dropped Simon Norvil twice, which you just can't afford to do.
"However, despite all of that, I think we were really competitive and should only improve as the season rolls on."

As for their opponents, City United lost no fans during their opening-round loss to North Tamworth.
"City are a very similar side to us, in that they have a few young guys and some experienced guys as well," Stevenson said.
"I think we will have to be on our toes and look to rectify the things we got wrong last week.
"If we can do that, I think we will be a pretty good chance on Saturday."
Saturday's action will begin at Riverside No.2 from 1pm.
