The 75-year-old woman died three days after a community nurse attended her home and called for urgent assistance on July 13, 2017.
Rushed to Tamworth hospital by ambulance, the woman later died as a result of her injuries which police refuse to detail but have described as “serious”.
Appearing in Tamworth Local Court on Wednesday, Morris’ solicitor had applied for a committal hearing on the last occasion.
The defence wanted to test whether there was enough evidence to have the matter committed for trial.
I order Mr Morris be committed for trial to the district court on October 26, 2018.
- Magistrate Julie Soars
But on Wednesday Magistrate Julie Soars said a notice had been lodged to waive the committal hearing.
“I order Mr Morris be committed for trial to the district court on October 26, 2018.” she said.
“Bail to continue.”
Morris was charged with manslaughter after Oxley Police District detectives upgraded his charge from failure to provide the necessities of life – given the seriousness of the deceased’s injuries.
