The upgrade of the children’s wards in eight NSW hospitals is under way and Armidale Regional Hospital is one of those to have money spent on making its paediatric wards more comfortable and secure.

Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall announced the $250,000 of funding when he visited the hospital this morning.
He said the funding would be spent to enhance play space area, extra security and other improvements, such as bathrooms.

“It is a bit of a coup for us as only one of eight hospitals,” Mr Marshall said.
“This is making the paediatric unit more comfortable for families and for youngsters, and it’s quite timely that we do this, while we’re in the final stages of the whole $60 million redevelopment.”
General manager of the tablelands sector of Hunter New England Health, Wendy Mulligan, said she thought the work could be completed as soon as early next year.
“This will be good for the kids,” Mrs Mulligan said.
“The paediatric ward was done up a few years ago and we have done a little bit of work, but this will just make it better for the kids and the parents who are there as well.
“This is for children from babies to 18-year-olds, so it’s being able to make it appropriate for all different ages to use.”
