EVEN celebrating his 90th birthday, Tamworth’s Jim Finucane wasn’t looking back, he is still all about “action”.
Mr Finucane celebrated his milestone birthday, briefly, at One of a Kind on Denne St on Monday, but even that time was spent planning for upcoming projects.

The Tamworth man has been an unwavering advocate for men’s health in the last decade, setting up an annual stall at Shoppingworld, handing out information since 2007.

Mr Finucane is still a coordinator with the OMNI men’s shed group in Tamworth.
On his 90th birthday, Mr Finucane told The Leader he lived by a simple credo.
“My thing has always been: don’t get old, get active,” he said.
In recent years, Mr Finucane has been a staunch campaigner for Westdale’s memorial park, pressuring council to upgrade the facility and ensure the growing part of town doesn’t become a “forgotten village”.
Mr Finucane received a $5000 grant from the state government for the park, but called for more upgrades and said it “badly needs more seating and shelter”.
