A $5000 grant announced by Minister for Veteran’s Affairs David Elliott on Friday will go towards restoring the Westdale Memorial Park to its former glory.
Volunteers were joined by local veterans for the announcement, which will see the entrance arch restored, a new honour roll and revitalisation works to be carried out in the park grounds.
The grant will go towards the first major refurbishment of the park since the 1970s.
The restoration project was a joint project between the Tamworth Men’s Shed and the Older Men’s Network with assistance from Tamworth Regional Council.
The park is now also formally recognised on a national registry of memorials.
