The golden anniversary of the event kicked off on Monday morning and cops have warned travellers to be patient and safe on the roads as they make their way to Tamworth.
A special operation has been launched for the festival with extra police on the beat to target alcohol-related violence, anti-social behaviour and road safety.
General duties cops from the local command will join forces with specialist police, highway patrol and officers from across the Western region for the high-visibility Operation Tamworth Country Music Festival 2022.
"Our officers are not out to spoil your fun; they are focused on making sure the event is safe and enjoyable for everyone involved," Western region commander, Assistant Commissioner Brett Greentree, said.
"The message is simple - think before you drink, keep an eye on your mates, and enjoy the event responsibly."
Council rangers and police will make sure no drivers try to dodge road closed signs in the CBD area.

"We're urging motorists to be mindful of the traffic, drive to the conditions and allow extra travel time to make sure all road users make it their destinations safely," Assistant Commissioner Greentree said.
Campers in particular are encouraged to get to know their neighbours, lock up when leaving the site, use a portable alarm if possible, plan for weather changes and ensure valuables are not left in vehicles.
Festival-goers are also urged to be mindful of their own safety and security in crowds, as well as those around them, and leave valuables at home if possible.
Anyone who notices suspicious behaviour should contact Tamworth police.
The 50th annual Tamworth Country Music Festival has not been held in full swing since January 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It's the nation's largest music festival and has a program featuring 700 artists and more than 2800 events.
The festival - and the road closures that come with it - will end after seven days.
