Several ambulance crews rushed to the scene of a serious crash at the intersection of the New England Highway and Porcupine Lane just before midday today.
An Ambulance NSW spokesperson told the Leader three people had suffered minor injuries while one woman, believed to be aged in her 90s, had suffered more serious injuries.
The spokesperson said the four patients were in stable conditions when they were taken to Tamworth hospital.
Emergency services, including firefighters and police, were urgently called to respond to reports that the two cars had crashed, and one had rolled onto its side.
Five people were reportedly involved in the collision.
The crash had to be cleared and traffic was affected for some time.

AT LEAST three people are being treated by ambulance paramedics after two cars crashed at a highway intersection on the outskirts of Tamworth.
Five ambulance crews rushed to the intersection of the New England Highway and Porcupine Lane just before midday after reports two cars had crashed, and one had rolled.
A spokesperson from Ambulance NSW told the Leader five people were involved in the collision and were able to get themselves out of the vehicles.
The spokesperson said paramedics were still at the scene treating three patients - a man believed to be aged in his 30s, one in his 50s and a woman in her 80s - for their injuries this afternoon.

No one appeared to have been seriously hurt though the situation is still unfolding, according to the Ambulance NSW spokesperson.
Traffic on the New England Highway has been affected and travellers should avoid the area if possible and drive with caution.
Emergency services, including police and firefighters, remained at the scene as the crash site was cleared.
