With six runners engaged in race five at Tamworth Paceway on Thursday afternoon, Cessnock trainer Stacie Elliott was looking for a favourable result - and good old Rory Mclory was the one who took up the challenge and won.

The Sportswriter gelding was driven by Bevan Pringle and commenced from the 10 barrier.

The nine-year-old was having his 111th race start.
"He has no gate speed but [he] slowly wound up in running and when we went three wide around the field at the bell, he just kept running into the race," Pringle said.
With stablemates Corporal Jujon (Tom Ison) and Joanandi (Madi Young) leading the field in the initial stages, Caitlin McElhinney changed the complexion of the race on the final turn after taking the lead with Laker.
Laker was then joined by Savannahs Boy (Sarah Rushbrook).
Rory Mclory joined then the battle, racing four wide around the final turn and capturing his sixth career win by a head over the Rob Durrant-trained Savannahs Boy.
The $2.30 race favourite, Laker, was another 1.8m away in third place.
"I would have been spotting the leaders by 40m or more at the start," Pringle said. "So he ran on well.
"When I was sitting behind the field, I didn't really know what I had with the horse.
"But once I put him into the race, he just kept running.
"He won his last race here at Tamworth. He is just a lovely old horse and it was a massive run."
Rory Mclory's previous Tamworth win was in December.
Elliott said it "was a great win". She added: "He's an old horse and Bevan loves him. It is good to see the old bugger back for a win."
