The rain has been falling in the right places for the region's water supplies. Chaffey Dam had risen to more than 46 per cent capacity by Tuesday afternoon, and was still on the up and up.
The city's main water supply was sitting at 42 per cent earlier this month, but inflows came surging down the Peel River after rain in the hills, and water has flooded into the dam.

Data from Water NSW shows more than 600ML of the resource - that's 240 Olympic swimming pools' worth - gushed in on Sunday, followed by another 200ML on Monday, and more again after rain settled in over the region on Tuesday.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) weather station at the head of the Peel River, near Nundle, clocked close to 26mm of rain in the 24 hours to 9am on Tuesday.
The station's monthly total for March has already reached 172mm of rain, most of which flows downstream into Chaffey Dam.
The resource will stay plugged up in the dam and replenish the supply, with water drawn from Dungowan Dam and the Peel River continuing to flow through the taps of Tamworth's town water users.
The milestone for Tamworth to drop back to the base level water restrictions, permanent water conservation measures, is 50 per cent full.
Lake Keepit has been boosted by the widespread rain event, and was sitting at more than 45 per cent on Tuesday.
Rain in the Inverell area brought a flood warning for the Upper Macintyre River, and helped give rise to Copeton Dam, which was sitting at 22 per cent on Tuesday. Split Rock Dam near Manilla was at 18 per cent.
