THREE people have been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after two cars crashed outside Tamworth on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision on Werris Creek Road, near Quipolly, about 2:30pm after reports two cars had collided.
Ambulance NSW said three people involved in the crash were treated at the scene for injuries.
All three were taken to Tamworth hospital in a serious condition.

Four ambulance crews, police, the Liverpool Ranges Rural Fire Service (RFS), Fire and Rescue NSW and the Volunteer Rescue Association were all deployed to help with the emergency.
The stretch of Werris Creek Road where the crash occurred is closed, and motorists are advised to avoid the area as the clean-up continues.
The road remained closed at 5.30pm and diversions are in place around the scene.
The RMS said motorists can travel along Taylors Lane, the Kamilaroi Highway and Gap Road in both directions to avoid the scene. This diversion is suitable for all vehicles, it said.
An RFS spokeswoman said firefighters were stood down from their duties about 3:30pm, but police remained at the scene.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
