"But just happy to be playing again and bowling well ... I don't think I had the hunger for it last year, to be honest."
The 25-year-old's not sure where his normally reliable killer instinct went, saying it was "just one of those years".
He said a lot of his success this season was down to the good work down by City United's opening bowler Tait Jordan and Jack McVey.
"I just come in there and knock 'em off, while those boys do all the hard yards," he said.
Weather permitting, third-placed City United will play fourth-placed South Tamworth at No 1 Oval on Saturday.
Wet weather resulted in the Old Boys and South Tamworth match as well as the Bective-East and West Tamworth match being declared draws last round.
However, play got under way in City United's clash against North Tamworth at Riverside 1 - with the Redbacks winning: they defended 9-83 after rolling City for 37.
Veteran quick Adam Greentree took 6-10 off 10.3 overs, after City quick Tait Jordan took 6-29 off 16 overs.
Brennan said City had to improve their batting. "It's the same thing each week for us," he said.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Norths and Wests meet at Riverside 2, while Old Boys and Bective East clash at Riverside 1.
