The Aqua West project manager does not mind the effort required to sustain a long-distance relationship, after they met at the Country Music Festival.
"It's good. I get a holiday once a month," he said, adding that the mother of three comes to Tamworth once a month.
On Saturday North Tamworth had Watson all to themselves, with him taking 3-15 off four overs in a 16-run Twenty20 defeat of West Tamworth at Riverside 1.
"It's hard stringing games together because I work away a lot and my partner's away in Newcastle," he said, adding: "But, yeah, I'm starting to enjoy it."
Watson said he had been at North Tamworth for "at least 15 years", joining the club to play with mates after originally being at Old Boys. Those mates include current Redacks Adam Greentree and the Rixon brothers, Brendan and Michael.
Norths have won three-straight matches and are second on the ladder behind City United.
Watson said some of his teammates believed the side faltered last season under the weight of expectation, but he did not subscribe to that theory.
Regardless, he said "everyone's having a great time" this season. "If we get everyone there more consistently, we should give it a good shake this year," he added.
Against a winless West Tamworth, Norths finished on 7-130 - with Brendan Rixon (39) and Sam Levick (29) top-scoring. Wests then made 8-114.
Elsewhere in round nine, City United won for the seventh time this season after beating fourth-placed South Tamworth by nine wickets at No 1 Oval.
Souths finished on 7-86, with City passing the total in 14 overs for the loss of one wicket. City opener Brad Smith continued his good form with a 40-ball 44.
At Riverside 2, Old Boys beat a winless Bective East by five wickets. The Bulls made 7-100 and Old Boys passed the total in the 14th over.
Bulls opener Jye Paterson made 31 and Old Boys opener Jack Hamilton made 50, while Daniel Bryant took 3-19 off four overs for Old Boys.
