So, he organised a charity car wash to raise funds for the much-needed service.
Mr Hockley thought $2000 was an achievable target but the owner of Jake's Car Detailing and his crew of volunteers raised much more on the day for Ronald McDonald House - $4691.50 to be exact.
Then some charitable people kicked in more money to see the total climb to $5000.

"We ended up doing 71 cars," Mr Hockley said.
"I've always had a big space in my heart for Ronald McDonald and what they do is simply amazing.
"It's always been a charity I have thought of and wanted to do an event for them.
"I usually do a donation every year but this way we could make some more money and it turned out to be a really successful day."
Mr Hockley said the charity day on Saturday wouldn't have been possible with the help of family and friends.
"There was probably 15 of us all up," Mr Hockley said.
"I've got a really good group of friends and family. I only asked a few people and then others came to me and volunteered.
"We were averaging about 12 minutes per car at the start but after a few cars, we were averaging seven minutes a car.
"We were flat stick all day and I didn't hear a complaint from one of the volunteers."
The event, which also had a lucky door prize and a sausage sizzle running, was such a success that Mr Hockley plans to make it an annual event.
"This is the first big event but because it went so well, we're thinking of doing it more often," he said.
"We're thinking of doing an annual event and each year we'll change the charity to share the love around."
