Locals are encouraged to send messages of gratitude and encouragement to local joints and essential workers under a new initiative called Tamworth Says Thanks.
The event launched on Tuesday night and is being run by community group Tamworth True.

Local artist Joanne Stead designed templates which can be downloaded from the group's Facebook page and personalised with a note and colour, or people can make their own creations.
The group's founder Jody Ekert said the initiative is designed to show the community's support for struggling or hibernating businesses as well as the workers keeping the city running.
"We know that some front line staff have been having to deal with the anxiety of the community, which in some cases is unfortunately manifesting itself as abuse that they should not be having to deal with," she said.
"We think this is a great chance to reframe that anxiety and panic for people, and to have them focus on what they are really thankful for.
"We have a lot of people to thank that our community is still operating and we are able to access all of the basics that we need."
Participants should write their notes, then take a photo and send it to the business electronically or post it on the company's Facebook page.
The group is encouraging businesses to show off community support by displaying the notes or emailing them to staff for a pick-me-up.
