Maintenance work will reduce the New England Highway, south of Glen Innes, to one lane next week.
The essential maintenance work at Glencoe will start on Monday from 7am.
Work to repair the road surface and replace drains and guardrail will be carried out from February 17.
The work will happen between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and between 7am and 2pm on Saturdays.
It is expected to take eight weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane with traffic control and reduced speed limits in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.
