The Moree and District Cricket Association twenty20 competition started with a bang on Saturday, highlighted by a pair of centuries in Soapy Rowe's big win.
Adam French (113 off 56) and Steve Bartholomew (102 off 55) both hit triple figures to lead their team to an 82-run victory over Balcony Boys.
Soapy Rowe amassed a monstrous total of 2-234 off their 20 overs, and while Warren McFayden (77 off 65) and Bradley Harris (63 off 49) fought hard in the run chase, Balcony Boys ultimately fell short at 4-152.
Thomas Duncan (2-2), Alex Barker (1-16) and Alf Newman (1-34) were the wicket takers for Soapy Rowe.
A strong bowling performance helped Amaroo Tavern Vikings get their campaign off to a winning start in a low scoring affair.
Taking on Pally Pub Bulls, the Vikings were only able to reach 8-112, with Aaron Annis-Brown (35) leading the way.
Ben Colley (3-21) was the pick of the bowlers for the Bulls, well supported by Angus Smith with 2-25.
Annis-Brown backed up his performance with the bat, taking 4-26 as the Vikings bowled the Bulls out for just 89 in the chase. Colley top scored with 40 off 35 deliveries.
Out to defend their 2019 title, the Camurra Crows got the 2020 season off to a poor start, going down to Colts by 46 runs.
Batting first and led by Grady Sinclair (40 off 26) and Jack Montgomery (31 off 18), Colts made a solid total of 7-162. Ben Day (3-22) and Daniel Brown (2-18) were the pick of the bowlers for the Crows.
The Crows weren't able to string together any partnerships in the run chase, with Ben Legg (38), Michael Picone (21) and Nick Marshall (19) the only batsmen to reach double figures as they wer bowled out for 116.
In the final game of the opening round, Boars proved far too strong for SHAE in a dominant 87-run win.
Batting first, Boars reached 6/159, led by Mark Stewart (58 off 47) and Tom Ryan (47 off 32), with Jason Poutawa the best of the bowlers for SHAE, taking 4-10 off three overs.
Only Poutawa (17) and Tom Carter (17) were able to reach double figures in SHAE's run chase as they were bowled out for just 72.
SHAE now have the bye while Boars will take on Colts in round two. After having the bye last week, Golfies will get their season under way against Pally Pub Bulls, Amaroo Tavern Vikings will take on Balcony Boys and Soapy Rowe will face off against Camurra Crows.
