A group of volunteers from local angling clubs and officers from the Department of Primary Industries continued their operation on Wednesday, traipsing through the Peel and Namoi rivers to save remaining native fish.
The crew initially targeted the Gwydir River, but had to change tack after a significant downpour on Tuesday.

Returning to the Peel, the rescue efforts netted three more catfish, adding to the first day's "successful" haul.
The operation will continue in the region on Thursday.
The rescued fish will be taken to a hatchery in Wagga Wagga.
