Green thumbs Sue Dykes, Jack and Anne van Hest and the rest of the Tamworth Orchid Society have been busy preparing for the Spring Show.
Growers have put the petal to the metal to ready their plants, made more difficult this year in drought.
At least 45 plants on display at the show come from Mr van Hest's garden.
"I like the fact that when you have a plant sitting at home for 20 years and you still haven't flowered it, there's always a chance one year you're going to see a flower," he laughed.
"It's a lot more difficult here because we get so hot and cold.
"There's not enough interest in those Australian varieties and I wish there was more."
There's about 30,000 species of orchid, and researchers are still finding more.

The show is an opportunity to look at the well-grown flowers, bring your own orchids in to ask questions - and there will be some for sale.
It's on at Tamworth Shoppingworld from September 19 to 21, outside Robin's Kitchen.
