Knitters from all around NSW will be busy knitting or crocheting poppies which will form an installation at the 2019 Sydney Royal for Anzac Day.
There will be three different colours of poppies that will be part of the tribute on Anzac Day: Red for the soldiers who bravely served our country; white for the nurses who helped our injured and dying men; and purple for the animals who died in the War
"If you would like to be part of the Poppy Project, knitting and crochet patterns to create the poppies are available at Walcha Creative Arts (Craft Shop), the Op Shop, Vinnies and Walcha Handmade or you can use your own pattern," said local co-ordinator Jenny Hill.
Completed poppies can be dropped in to the Walcha Craft Shop before 3pm on March 21. For more information contact Jenny on 0497 910 637.
The collection of poppies created by the Walcha community will be displayed as part of the knitting section in the Pavilion at the Walcha Show before they are sent to Sydney for display at the Royal Easter Show.
