Miss Uren competed at The Land 2019 Zone 4 Showgirl Final last month, and while she won't be going on to compete at the Sydney Royal, she did gain valuable experience and represented our community wonderfully.
"I had the pleasure of representing Walcha at The Land 2019 Showgirl finals against 14 other girls, in Narrabri," said Walcha 2019 Senior Showgirl Sophie Uren.
"Showgirl is a fantastic opportunity for young women to represent their community as well as challenging themselves through interviewing processes and public speaking."
Miss Uren said she would encourage any interested young women to try out for the Walcha Showgirl.
"It will give them important life skills and the opportunity to meet some amazing people through the journey," she said.
Sophie attended the event with a group of supporters from Walcha including Gus and Pip Monie; Allan and Colleen Green; Gin and Andrew Crawford; her parents Anthony and Fiona, and her sister Phoebe.
"I want to thank them for all the support throughout the weekend," she said.
"And I want to give special thanks to Jodie and Sam Martin for mentoring me throughout the year to prepare me for the finals."
I would highly encourage any young women to try out for showgirl
