They are invited to a weekend holiday, free of charge, where they are nurtured and accepted.
During the weekend the guests listen to some inspiring meditations, sing songs, share stories and participate in special activities and fellowship over meals.
Each weekend has a unique theme and this year it was Isaiah 40:31 “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
It was a wonderful break for the ladies, but it was more than that. It was a time of healing, praise, joy, peace and love. One participant reported, “Prior to the walk I spoke to God and said, ‘I’m done - health, exhausted, money, no where to turn’. But this special weekend brought me back to God – I didn’t realise I had left! I felt so loved and supported. It changed my attitude - I felt the world was against me (but it was the devil). My children really do love me! I came away from the weekend feeling ‘I am special, worthwhile’ ”
Last month Kairos held its 7th such weekend at Lake Keepit. There were 14 guests plus another 31 women who are needed to make the program run.
Once it was over, they didn’t want it to stop. So now they come together fortnightly for a weekly sewing group and a chance to share how they are all going.
KAIROS Outside weekends are held each October.
They are funded by donations and Bunnings barbecues. More information from Lorraine Furze 6761 7371.
