GETTING in a plane for most people could be a fairly mundane exercise, but for one young boy and his family it showed a community’s generosity soaring to new heights.
Sterling Rodda was able to tick one item off his wishlist this weekend after Sigma Aerosapce and pilot David Green took the youngster on a flight around Tamworth and its surrounds.
The 10-year-old has Wolfram Syndrome which will claim his eyesight and has compiled a list of sights he wants to take in.
The community has rallied to help complete the list which has been an overwhelming experience for mother Julie.
“It's huge been, way bigger than we’d ever expected it to be, the kids all very excited by it, Mark and I are a little overwhelmed at times and question whether it was the right thing,” she said.
“When it first all took off, I really second guessed myself and had a lot of anxiety.
“Now seeing the smile on his face, I think the risk was worth it.”
The family will head to Seaworld next month, thanks to a donation from the Kyle and Jackie O radio show to tick off some more items on Sterling’s list.
