“The house that love built” fired up the barbecue and threw the doors open to the public to celebrate ten years since an army of volunteers built the extensive five bedroom dwelling in just one weekend.
Members of the public were taken on a guided tour of the house, a play in the playground and a lavish lunch provided by major sponsors Steggles and McDonalds.
Ronald McDonald himself was even there to entertain the kids, and thank the sponsors and community at large for the generous support that has allowed the Tamworth organisation to house more than 2200 families in their greatest time of need.
CEO of RMH Northern NSW Ross Bingham said “the impact that Ronald McDonald House has had on the lives of families within our region is massive.”

“Some of these families could not have survived financially while their child was in hospital,” he said.
“The caring and nurturing provided by strangers to them in their time of need was amazing. The House allowed them to stay together as a family unit.”
Mr Bingham also too the opportunity to thank sponsors, the community and the tireless volunteers.
“We are grateful for the continued support and goodwill of the wider community, corporate support and our volunteers and staff,” he said.
“Without this ongoing support we could not continue to provide the home away from home that families need.
“You may never meet the families that you have assisted, but know you have made a massive difference in their lives.”
While the Tamworth RMH aims to continue helping over 350 families a year, they are hoping the Tamworth community can get behind a “capital campaign” for the Newcastle RMH, which helps hundreds of Tamworth families every year.
