TUESDAY 4.30pm:
A TEENAGE girl was “dragged” into a car in central Albury yesterday afternoon, prompting a police manhunt for the driver of the green utility.
The 17-year-old was able to escape when the man later stopped at a red light on Dean Street.
Police say the attempted abduction occurred between 4.30pm and 4.45pm on David Street.
The teenage girl had been waiting for a friend on the roadside when she was allegedly approached by a man in a dark green utility who stopped and spoke to her.
Police say the male then dragged the girl into the vehicle and drove west along Dean Street before stopping at a set of traffic lights.
The girl escaped uninjured from the front passenger street while the vehicle was stationary.
Police were unable to track down the vehicle after the incident was reported to them.
The public is urged to look out for the dark green utility with a green P-plate on the front windscreen, possibly indicating a Victorian vehicle or driver.
The driver has been described to police as being about 20-years-old with a medium build and medium length dark brown hair.
Anyone with information should contact Albury Police on (02) 6023 9299.
