The 24-year-old was also charged with not stopping during a police pursuit, dangerous driving, driving recklessly or furiously or at a dangerous speed or with a dangerous manner, and driving while his licence was cancelled.
All three will face court in Tamworth on Monday December 13.
Police will allege in court that the group of eight young men stole a Holden Commodore from a home in North Street, Tamworth, early Friday morning.
They drove the car to a service station on Booral Road, Booral, about 4am, where the young men allegedly broke in and stole soft drink, before fleeing the scene, police will claim in court.
The group then broke into another motor vehicle and a home in Stroud, where personal items were stolen, police will claim.
Officers of the Oxley Police District attempted to stop the allegedly stolen vehicle while it was travelling north on the New England Highway just after 7am on Friday, police claim.
The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and police initiated a pursuit.
Road spikes were deployed, but the pursuit was terminated for safety reasons, according to Oxley Police.
