A MAN and a woman have been urgently flown to hospital with serious head injuries after a car crash left four people trapped near Armidale on Monday morning.

A man aged in his 40s and a woman in her 50s have been airlifted to a Newcastle hospital by two separate Westpac Rescue Helicopters after reports of the crash on Bundarra Road, Sauramez Ponds, about 8:30am
Emergency services from different agencies rushed to the scene to help free the four people who were trapped at the scene of the crash.

NSW Ambulance paramedics and the critical care teams from the two choppers treated the patients and stabilised them for transport.
The man and woman reportedly suffered serious head injuries and were airlifted to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.
The two other patients involved in the crash were taken by ambulance to Tamworth hospital for treatment but their conditions were unconfirmed on Monday afternoon.
Live Traffic NSW did not indicate that there were any road closures or delays in the area by Monday afternoon.
