Tammy Louise Kelly fronted Gunnedah Local Court with Aboriginal Legal Service solicitor Joseph Healy for sentencing on Wednesday.

Magistrate Peter Thompson handed down the sentence after Kelly was convicted of damaging property by fire that's worth more than $15,000.

Mr Thompson sentenced Kelly to an 11-month intensive corrections order (ICO), or jail term in the community, with the supervision of a community corrections officer.

She must not commit any further offences while the order is in place.

Kelly has also been ordered to undertake 50 hours of community service; and is not allowed to take certain drugs or drink alcohol for the duration of the ICO.

Kelly's arson offence relates to a housefire that was sparked at a home on the outskirts of Gunnedah on the night of November 20, 2020.

Emergency services were alerted that a house was alight on Ross Road, near Quia Road, just before 10:30pm.

Gunnedah fire crews and the NSW Rural Fire Service battled the blaze for several hours, but the home was destroyed.

Oxley police confirmed the fire was suspicious and launched an investigation, which led them to Kelly about two months later.

Kelly had been on bail since her arrest on the morning of January 5.

The ICO order came into effect on August 4 and will expire on July 3, next year.
