A spokesperson for Guzman y Gomez (GYG) has confirmed a Tamworth restaurant will open in July 2022, complete with a drive-thru and dine-in area.
The popular Mexican restaurant offers freshly-prepared burritos, nachos, enchiladas, churros, and more. There are more than 150 stores across the globe, but none so far in the North West.
It will be the third option for Mexican lovers in town, alongside Zambrero on Peel Street and Taco Bell across from Woolworths Eastpoint, which is currently under construction.
The fast food company is now on the lookout for a franchisee to run the restaurant, as well as spots in Hervey Bay, Port Macquarie, Mackay and Cairns.
GYG founder and chief executive officer, Steven Marks, said the company wanted an exceptional franchisee who wanted to serve locals the "best fast food".

"Usually we have franchisees on a waitlist for two years or more before we make locations available so I'm really proud to make these five restaurants available to young entrepreneurs wanting to make their mark on the world," he said.
"Seeing our current franchisees build their businesses, growing their teams and watching them succeed is what drives us and these five new GYG locations are exceptional opportunities."
The company was first established in Newtown in 2006. The closest stores to Tamworth are currently Coffs Harbour and Rutherford.
