Long-serving mayor Col Murray will step down from chambers all together, leaving a definite vacancy for a fresh face.
It's important for candidates to know exactly what they're in for, Cr Murray said, so TRC will put on a one-hour information session led by the mayor himself.
"Our city deserves to have really top line candidates presented to the community for election day and it's really important we get good community-minded people that understand budgets and have the capacity to contribute to the future of the city," he said.
"Local government today has such a big impact on every single citizen in every single city, so we need to get the best range of candidates there to put together the policies that guide the future of the city."

The information session will talk locals through the role of a councillor, give an overview of TRC's Code of Conduct and is an opportunity to ask questions about the realities of leadership.
The one-hour event will be held at Tamworth Regional Youth Centre on July 21 from 6pm, register on the TRC website.
