A MAN has been charged with leading police on a high-speed chase around several Tamworth streets overnight.

The 31-year-old is set to front court, accused of four driving offences including driving while disqualified.
The Holden Crewman and a police car were damaged in Monday night's chase after one struck a fence panel and the other a gutter. No one was injured.
The man was later captured in a unit in Alice Street after allegedly fleeing the Crewman.

Police said the car was not stolen, but officers tried to stop the vehicle about 10.15pm at the intersection of Vera Street and Hillvue Street.
Police allege the accused failed to stop and took off. A pursuit was initiated which continued through several streets.
The chase ended in Kuloomba Street after the crash.
Police tracked the man to Alice Street where he was arrested. Police claim the man had a warrant out for his arrest for assault, and checks revealed the ute was not registered.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with police pursuit - Skye's Law; driving while disqualified; driving an unregistered car; and driving an uninsured car.
The man was refused bail by police to front court.
