ADFAS lecture
At the Tamworth Regional Gallery at 5.45 for 6pm
We are pleased to present our second lecture for 2021. It will be held on Friday 14 May at 6pm at the Tamworth Regional Gallery.
This lecture will be presented by Lucrezia Walker on the French artist, Elizabeth Vigee Le Brun, and will be in a digital format. Elizabeth Vigee Le Brun was a portrait painter who specialised in painting portraits of royalty including her patron, Marie Antoinette. In an age where women did not enjoy the freedom and success of their male contemporaries, she was able to establish herself as a prominent artist due to her close friendship with the queen.
Unfortunately it was her association with the French aristocracy that forced her to flee France during the French Revolution. This lecture will look at her life and how she managed to produce such quality portraits in extraordinary and dramatically changing times.
Financial Members are free, Non Members $28 paid at the door.
Please join us for the lecture at the Tamworth Regional Gallery on Friday 14 May 2021 5.45pm for a 6pm start. Tickets available at the door for non-members.
