GUNNEDAH rev-heads will have plenty to look forward to this year with the Weeks of Speed Festival including drag races and speedways, but first it's time for the opening event... the Tractor Trek.
Continuing with the annual tradition, the Trek will feature a range of different vehicles which will parade from Elgin Street to the Woolworths Carpark via Conadilly Street.
Gunnedah Shire Council (GSC) have partnered with the Gunnedah Rural Museum to organise the vehicles.
"It will include anything from tractors to hot rods, drag cars and everything in between which is really cool," stated GSC Events and Engagement officer Jacinta Cipolla.
As approved by GSC at their ordinary council meeting on Wednesday night, it will take place between 9:45am and 2:00pm on March 6.
"We normally have over 100 vehicles in the parade and crowds from about 500 plus," she said.
"It can attract people from the whole region, particularly if there are other events running that weekend as part of the Weeks of Speed.
"So this year we're expecting a larger crowd from out of town as we have the drag events happening out at the airport as well as the speedway event happening at the Gunnedah Speedway."
While the event runs over the course of four weeks, the Tractor Trek is part of the vintage vehicles and machinery show which will take place on the first weekend.
The Gunnedah Local Advisory Traffic Committee have thrown their support behind the parade, while relevant emergency services and Transport NSW have also been notified.
