As part of the funds, Tamworth RSL Sub Branch president Jayne McCarthy said her team could continue its support of local veterans.
"It's enough to keep our doors open," Ms McCarthy said.
"The purpose of the funding is to help in veterans welfare advocacy work and that is really important work.
"Honestly, it's surprising how it never really stops and this money will help us go a long way to keeping that work going."
Ms McCarthy said the funding had come at "the best possible time" due to the impacts COVID-19 had made on the Sub Branch's fundraising efforts.
"For us it's really going to help support our advocacy work and to help keep us going because everything on top of that we have to fundraise for," she said.
"It's been tough for us because of the pandemic and I personally really for the small Sub Branches who rely on the community for support.
"Honestly, it's been pretty tough year across the board, but this money will guarantee us for another 12 months."
New England MP Barnaby Joyce said the Sub Branch played a vital role in supporting the region's veterans.
"The BEST grants program provides these groups with an opportunity to expand on their services to further support veterans and their families," Mr Joyce said.
"I congratulate and thank these organisations which support veterans and their families and encourage veterans who may require additional assistance to reach out to them."
Ms McCarthy said the Sub Branch was taking "a wait-and-see" approach to its Remembrance Day fundraising.
"We try and plan as much as we can, with hope in mind and if we have to pull it back we have to pull it all back," she said.
"I'm sure we're not the only ones and it is frustrating.
"We'll be hoping for the best though, that's for sure."
