Iconic Tamworth restaurant sSs BBQ Barns reopened on Wednesday night.
The 27-year-old award-winning steakhouse closed in February. At the time founding owners Graham and Marlene Manvell declared they were shutting up shop for good.
But family friends and former employees the Benkoe family stepped in, taking over the business from the Manvells.
They have spent the last week preparing the restaurant for a grand opening, expected next week.
But they held a quiet, or "soft" opening for a few locals on Thursday.
It's actually a third lease of life for the restaurant, which almost burned down and was forced to close for 18 months in 2011.
They reopened the next year and went on to win an award for serving the best steak in NSW in 2015.
The Manvells semi-retired into low-stress jobs in February, with Graham moving on into a corporate role and serving as an international cooking judge.
