She may have postponed the date of her debut album, but listeners got a delightful teaser when she dropped her second single from the album.
Lay It On Me is a song Sammy said she's been sitting on for close to two years, so to have it out in the world at last is not only a sense of relief, but also hugely exciting.
She penned the song after venting with a friend over a cup of tea.
Sammy was crowned the Toyota Star Maker winner this year, and was thrown into the world of music and media madness.
But as gigs dried up and a coronavirus lockdown loomed, the country music singer headed home to Townsville and threw herself into making more music.

"It's not the year I thought I was getting myself into, but it's been really good ... I've been doing a lot of writing and focusing on releasing," she said.
"No one pictured there would be a global pandemic in January when Star Maker was announced."
Although she's enjoyed spending time at home in North Queensland with her family, Sammy said she's keen to hit the road and come back to Tamworth to what she hopes will be the "incredible festival we all know and love."
"I am itching to get back out there to see live music if everything pans out the way we're all hoping for, then I will be there with bells on," she told the Leader.
"Tamworth festival is such a key event in our calendars, especially as artists ... it's the one time of the year we can all get together, same time, same place, and really hang out."
In the meantime, Sammy said she's been amazed at the way the music industry has adapted to coronavirus restrictions.
Between writing and family time, she herself has been doing sporadic livestreams on her social media channels to keep in touch with her fans.
"We're all creatives, we think creatively, we think about new ways to get our music to people and to get heard, so I'm loving seeing these ideas come out of the box," she said.
