Mayor Col Murray was "expecting to have some discussions" with the NRL club in regard to the Warriors returning to Tamworth to play a match after coronavirus rules and measures are lifted.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday from their Scully Park base via video, Warriors captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck was keen to "have a big game here".
"I'm pretty sure at one stage we'd love to come back and play here," Tuivasa-Sheck said of Tamworth.
"Hopefully we can try and fill up the stadium and it's a way for us to give back to this community that's taken us on.

The Warriors have been in Tamworth since Sunday afternoon and had their first training session on Tuesday.
Training in groups of seven to eight players, the Warriors had a tough session - as Tuivasa-Sheck put it - to kick things off.
However, the fullback said the sessions not only gave the Warriors a tune-up, it also made the return of the NRL finally feel real.
"You know it's going to be like that [tough] for the next two weeks so it's starting to feel real and it's not that far away now so it's exciting times," he said.
The enormity of the task to get the NRL up and running again wasn't lost on Tuivasa-Sheck, either.
On many occasions during the media call, he noted how grateful he was to be given the opportunity to get back on the field.
He said the team was focused in training and wanted to say thank you to everyone.
"It's all about trying to stay together and keep our eyes on the prize," he said.
"We're doing something real special, relocating to Australia, so let's give a big thank you to our family, our fans and our club. All the people that have put in so much effort, the NRL included, let's put on a show for them, for all the hard work they've done for us."
