The two businesses have been in talks for six months about joining forces, and it will become official under the Forsyths name on July 1.
It comes as Forsyths enters into its 99th year in the New England North West region, managing principal Andrew Kirk said.
"It was about finding a firm with a very similar fit to us and both Karly Davidson and Megan Edwards have similar views about where the marketplace is headed," he said.
"We engaged with them about six months ago in discussions and it was very clear from the onset that we shared those values."
Edwards O'Connor Chartered Accountants have been in business in Tamworth for the last decade.
The union will create a team with 12 principals and more than 125 team members in Tamworth, Armidale, Gunnedah, Coonabarabran and Inverell.
It was an opportunity to offer more services to clients and flexible working hours to staff with the support of a larger and more established firm, Ms Edwards said.
"There are areas of expertise we don't have access to as a smaller firm," she said.
"Our team is key and so anything we can offer them to keep them happy and productive is really attractive.
