Gunnedah captain Blake Small has expressed concern about playing on a synthetic wicket ahead of the side's Connolly Cup semi-final against Gwydir on Sunday.

Small admitted that the prospect of playing on a synthetic wicket in Gwydir was an unpalatable situation.
Gunnedah are attempting to relive that glory day at Wolseley Oval in 2018, when they beat Pilliga to win the Connolly Cup.

However, Small said winning the Cup this year would be harder.
"It's gonna be a lot harder being the underdog side, where we won't have any home finals," he said.
"Especially this weekend playing on synthetic, where we normally play on turf all the time. It's gonna be a very big difference with that situation."
Small said Gunnedah had a similar side to the one that last won the Connolly Cup.
And he said the recent additions to the side of talented teens Adam McGuirk and Hayden Baker had strengthened it.

However, he was sweating on the availability of in-form opening bowler Troy Sands for the clash against undefeated Gwydir.
