"Transport for NSW will use the learnings from this, and other pilots, to look at different ways in which we can make it easier for our customers to get around on public transport," a department spokesperson said.
"The Tamworth On Demand trial tested flexible and easy ways for customers to connect to services such as shops, sporting facilities and medical appointments," a TfNSW spokesperson said.
"These trials help us learn more about the needs of customers and how they travel during the first and last mile of their journey."
The trial, operated by Macphersons Coaches in the Moore Creek and Tamworth area, included three services tailored to the specific needs of the community.
The services included: a workers' service in morning and afternoon peak times, taking residents from Moore Creek to the city.
There was also an on demand service on weekdays from 9:15am to 2:30pm from Moore Creek to Tamworth.
The Saturday service operated from 7:30am to 4:30pm, taking people in Moore Creek to the Riverside Sporting Field, Longyard Sporting Precinct and Tamworth CBD.
Following an evaluation in May, the pilot was extended with changes that included a service extension to the Tregarthen area, increased pick up and drop off flexibility in Tamworth and a simplification of the service model.
The Saturday service was changed to an all areas service instead of focusing on the sporting fields.
