"It's the first time in about four years I've been without my moustache, so it is a little bit of a strange feeling," Mr Proudfoot said.
"Honestly, it's terrific to see both schools come together for a great cause and it's a credit to both schools.
"It's really been a good showing of community spirit.
"I have to give a special thanks to my colleagues at Gunnedah, Oscar Hunt and Adam Mooney, for their great efforts."
The science teacher, who in his spare time plays AFL for the Gunnedah Bulldogs, said it was just the second time in 10 years he had shaved off his moustache.
"It's all for a good cause and with how many people wanted me to do it, I had no choice really," he said.
"To raise as much money as we did was a fantastic effort from a group of students and teachers.
"I'm not sure whether to be happy or concerned about how many people were happy to see me get shaved.
"All jokes aside, it was a fun experience and it's all for a good cause."
